So glad you bogged about this! If we were not in this semantics class we would have never even caught what you said. It's funny how we use metaphors so easily. I wonder why exactly this is. Does anyone know exactly why metaphors are used? Is it to spice up the language... or is it because we have become an abstract generation? Food for thought. (hmm, perhaps another metaphor)
